2012 Yamaha YZ250F

The Yamaha YZ250F is hitting dealer floors in 2012 with a host of beefy upgrades to the nimble motocrosser. New design elements are found throughout the frame, engine, suspension and gearing giving the YZ250F an overhaul for the upcoming year.

Yamaha first started with the frame by adding a three-box tank rail section instead of its original two-box design for increased rigidity. The frame design also includes a new swingarm pivot point and new engine brackets for more predictable handling.

2012-Yamaha-YZ250F

Housed within the new frame design is a re-worked engine. Yamaha opted for a lighter piston, piston pin and wire circlip. Yamaha claims the new piston gives better performance by reducing overall mass and friction, providing more power from 8000-12,000 rpm. Yamaha engineers also took into account vibration on the 250F, revising the crankshaft balancer to reduce the vibes felt at several key touchpoints including the handlebars, seat and footpegs. In addition, the balancer shaft is now optimized for the lighter piston, which further reduces vibration.

2012-Yamaha-YZ250F-White

Biggest news for the 2012 model is whats not changed, as the YZ remains the lone 250 to shun electronic fuel injection. Yamaha did tweak the carburetor, however, boring it out another 2mm, and a high-flow air filter cage has been fitted inside the 250F to enhance top-end performance. CDI settings have also been reformatted to give the bike better throttle response in the mid to high-speed range, and a new silencer with a smaller outlet is designed to meet AMA Pro Racing sound regulations.

Up front the KYB Speed Sensitive System fork is revalved and is now offset by 22mm. The outer tube has also been enhanced for 50% more rigidity, and the steering stem was made longer. The spring rate on the fork is now 0.46kg. The 250Fs rear shock sees new rebound damping and a new swingarm adds more strength to the axle block. Yamaha touts that these changes add more refined damping character and improve bump absorption, allowing for more aggressive sessions on the track.

2012 Yamaha YZ450F

The YZ450F already stands apart on the motocross scene with its rearward-slanting cylinder, the Yamaha claiming improved performance from its offset cylinder and centralized weight. These revolutionary design elements have become fundamental to the 2012 Yamaha YZ450F and remain unchanged. But to keep the YZ450F one step ahead of the competition, the 2012 model will offer revisions to its fuel injection, suspension and tires. Aesthetically the model also gets new color profiles, which include black rims and a gold-colored drive chain.

2012-Yamaha-YZ450F

One thing Yamaha has done for the new model year is update its fuel map and optimize the ignition timing. The goal was to create a smoother throttle response and generate more low to mid-range power with improved roll-on performance. The 2012 Yamaha YZ450F also includes a 42.0mm longer silencer with reduced sound output in keeping with new AMA Racing regulations which limit exhaust to 94db.

Shifting on the 2012 model was given a boost by changing the locating pin to make the shift bar more rigid. The claimed result is more precise shifting on the 450F, particularly between second and third.

Both the front fork and rear shock have been tweaked to improve bump absorption and to reduce dive while cornering. Up front the fork is revalved for low to mid-speed compression damping. Meanwhile, the shock not only has revised rebound characteristics, but also gets a new valve setting for more high-speed compression.

2012-Yamaha-YZ450F-White

Dunlop Geomax MX51 tires replace the existing D742FA and D756 rubber, with Yamaha touting improved traction as a result. The 2012 YZ450F is also adorned with black rims on its blue bike instead of the traditional silver.

In addition to these updates, the GYTR Power Tuner returns for the 2012 YZ450F which allows users to adjust fuel and ignition maps manually. The device is extremely useful for those who wish to squeeze the most out of their bike on those weekend trips to the track. More than nine points are customizable, and users can also get info on engine running time, water and intake temperature, throttle position and rpm.

2011-Yamaha-Stryker-Vivid-Purplish-Blue

2011 Yamaha Stryker model Features

1304cc fuel injected V-Twin, Chopper inspired styling and attitude.

ENGINE

1304cc (80 cubic inch), liquid-cooled, short stroke, SOHC, 4-valve per cylinder, fuel injected, 60 V-twin powerplant pumps out impressive power and torque for excellent cruising performance. Uneven firing interval, bore & stroke dimensions and special ignition & injection mapping all contribute to excellent torque output and that classic V-twin pulse feeling. Liquid-cooling not only allows for higher state of tune because it maintains more stable operating temperatures, but also reduces mechanical noise for a quieter engine. In an effort to maintain the classic air-cooled appearance of the engine, cooling fins have been added as a styling highlight. The short stroke engine design reduces the "height" of the engine, while the 60 degree "V" makes the engine more compact thereby centralizing mass and lowering the center of gravity for lighter, more responsive handling. One-piece cylinder heads feature 4-valves per cylinder to provide optimum breathing efficiency for maximum power output. Stylish chromed cylinder head covers. The SOHC valve train features 36mm intake and 32mm exhaust valves with special single coil springs for great power and torque. Valves angles are set at 20 degrees from centre. Specially designed roller rockers activate the valves. The rocker system allows a greater amount of valve lift without causing excessive camshaft wear and friction. The slipper portion of the rocker arm features a needle bearing which reduces wear and slide resistance (friction). The camshafts have been specially designed for use with roller rockers. Pent roof combustion chamber design and optimized squish area forces the fuel / air mixture toward the centre of the combustion chamber for more complete combustion and hence improved power and cleaner emissions. The radiator is mounted between the front frame down tubes to minimize its appearance especially when viewing the machine from the side. Even the rad hoses have been discreetly placed for a cleaner appearance. An electric fan aids in cooling during very hot weather or in stop and go traffic. Automatic hydraulic cam chain tensioners reduce mechanical noise and simplify maintenance too. Ceramic composite-plated cylinders provide uniform heat dissipation while also reducing friction and weight. The cylinders have a tapered "V" appearance to highlight the V-twin design. Cylinder bore is 100mm. High performance forged pistons offer great durability and reduced weight for faster engine response and less mechanical vibration. Crankshaft features a single crank pin design. This specially designed crank and uneven firing order helps to enhance the pulse feeling and that unique V-twin engine character. Single axis, left and right dual engine counter balancers reduce vibration to a minimum while maximizing rider comfort. Crankcase design features internal oil and coolant lines for a clean, air-cooled engine appearance. There are special piston coolers that spray oil at the under side of the pistons. Easy access, spin on type oil filter is located under the engine. There is no need to remove any parts to access the oil filter. Classic side mounted air box houses a high-flow viscous paper-type filter and adds that special styling touch too. Mikuni dual bore, 40mm throttle body fuel injection system with TPS and ISC. This is a "closed loop" system that utilizes an oxygen sensor in the exhaust. The sensor "sniffs" the spent exhaust gases and feeds back info to the ECU which in turn adjusts the fuel/air mixture for maximum power with minimum emissions. The oxygen sensor is located before the mufflers, so the use of slip-on mufflers will not affect this system. Each injector features 12 holes and a dual spray pattern for better fuel atomization and more complete combustion chamber filling. There is one injector per cylinder. Fuel injection benefits include improved fuel economy; choke less operation, reduced emissions, and smoother running. High pressure fuel pump is located in a separate sub tank below the seat. 2 into 1 into 2 exhaust system features dual slash cut mufflers which provide a specially developed exhaust note that accentuates the V-Twin rumble. The engineers call it the "sound of acceleration". A 3-way honeycomb catalyzer is located at the entry point to the mufflers. The catalyzer reduces harmful exhaust emissions. Smooth-shifting, 5-speed transmission with 5th gear overdrive delivers outstanding cruising performance and reduced rpms at highway speeds for comfortable cruising. Clean, quiet belt drive system is extremely low maintenance and simplifies customization. The belt features carbon cords for extra strength. Air Induction System (A.I.S.) reduces harmful exhaust emissions (CO + HC).

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

Double cradle steel frame with "open neck space" provides an aggressive chopper image. This frame utilizes a rigid engine mounting system to optimize the overall rigidity balance of the chassis for superior handling. The rake is 34 degrees with a yoke offset * of 6 degrees. The frame not provides excellent handling and roomy ergonomics but also compliments the beautiful flowing lines of the entire machine.
Important Note: Raked out front fork with lots of trail generally provides good straight line stability but often results in heavy steering at low speeds. The engineers at Yamaha will not sacrifice handling for styling, so they have developed a 6 degree yoke offset angle combined with a 34 degree steering head for a total fork angle of 40 degrees. The "Stryker" provides light "athletic handling and easy steering" not normally associated with a custom styled bike. This bike was designed to be ridden ! Key numbers: 6 degree yoke offset angle, 34 degree caster angle, 109mm of trail. Steel swingarm compliments the frame and the overall chassis rigidity balance. Long 1,750mm (68.9") wheelbase creates a long, low profile and solid, stable handling. This chassis offers a 45% & 55% front to rear weight distribution and is approximately 60mm longer than the standard V-Star 1300. The long low design means spacious ergonomics with lots of leg room, which maximizes rider and passenger comfort. Raked out 41mm front fork offers excellent ride comfort and compliance. Chip protectors help to prevent stone chips in the tubes. Front wheel travel is 135mm (5.3"). Monocross style, spring preload-adjustable, single-shock, link rear suspension centralizes mass for agile handling. The linkage system provides a rising rate effect that provides excellent compliance on both small and large bumps. There are 9 positions of spring preload adjustability to suit rider preference. Rear shock is vertically mounted behind the engine and is tucked out of sight for that classic, clean, hard tail look. Rear wheel travel is 100mm (3.9"). Single, large 320mm, floating front disc is squeezed by a compact twin piston front caliper. 310mm rear disc brake is squeezed by single piston caliper mounted to the underside of the swingarm. This design not only helps to hide the caliper but also lowers the center of gravity for better handling. Newly designed, lightweight 5-spoke cast aluminium wheels are fitted tubeless tires. These stylish wheels are both easy to clean and maintenance-free. The front wheel is a MT3.50 x 21 inch while the rear is a wide MT7.50x18. The narrow front tire (120/70 x 21) and wide rear tire (240/40R18) enhance the chopper styling image. Newly designed 1 inch handlebars are mounted directly to the upper handlebar crown without the use of traditional handlebar holders. This design accentuations the chopper profile while also providing an aggressive riding position. Newly design deep-bend front and rear fenders enhance the chopper styling. Steel material allows for easy customization and painting if desired. 15 litre teardrop shaped fuel tank with chromed filler cap. The long, slim tank design accentuates the bikes muscular styling lines. Newly designed one piece rider and passenger seat offers a low 670mm (26.4") seat height and great styling too. Seating position is best described as sitting "in" not "on" providing a very special "riding attitude". Chromed handlebar-mounted instrument features an analog speedometer, digital odometer, dual tripmeters, fuel gauge, fuel reserve tripmeter (counts kilometres since the fuel went on reserve), clock, and a range of warning lights and self diagnostic functions. Instrument functions can be "tabbed" through and re-set using the RHS handlebar switch gear, allowing the operator to change instrument meter functions without taking hands off the bars. Newly designed, compact 60/55 watt high intensity halogen headlight emphasizes the "chopper" image. Eye catching LED tail light is not only very visible but also uses less electrical power than a conventional bulb style taillight.

2011 Yamaha Raider (XV1900) model Features

Fuel Consumption * 18kpl/51mpg(Imp), Fuel injected 1854cc V-twin,Superb handling, incredible attention to detail

ENGINE

High-performance, 1854cc (113 cubic inch) air-cooled, long-stroke, OHV, 4 valves per cylinder, 48, V-twin powerplant produces massive torque and class leading acceleration from very low rpms. Maximum torque occurs at 2,500 rpm while maximum power occurs at 4,500 rpm, providing exciting acceleration with great pulse and torque feel. Traditional pushrod valve actuation keeps engine height down for a lower centre of gravity and ensures more uniform heat dissipation due to absence of a cam chain case. A lower centre of gravity helps to insure light, easy handling. Four-valve cylinder heads provide optimal breathing efficiency for great power delivery at all rpms. The two spark plugs per cylinder means faster, more complete combustion for maximum power output. Cylinder heads utilizes a pent roof combustion chamber design and features an oil passage near the exhaust valve seat to improve cooling and durability. The heads also feature engine mounting points on each side of the head for increased chassis rigidity for exceptional handling. Large size valves increase engine horsepower and torque. The intake valves are 36mm in diameter while the exhaust valves are 31mm. Specially designed valve train includes short design intake and exhaust rocker arms that reduce inertia during high-rpm use. High performance spec twin, crankcase-mounted, high-lift cams ensure strong torque and class leading acceleration. Mechanical centrifugal decompression mechanism located in each of the exhaust camshafts, insures fast, easy starts. Hydraulic valve lifters driven by the twin camshafts deliver exceptional performance and significantly reduce maintenance and tune-up requirements. The crankshaft is a single pin design, providing that special V-twin sound and pulse feel. Optimized flywheel mass and "damper-less" crankshaft allows the rider to feel the directness of the engine's power. For each rotation of the rear wheel, in 5th gear, the crank spins 3.14 times providing an outstanding rear wheel driving force feeling to the rider. Dual balancers reduce vibration for exceptional rider and passenger comfort. The balancers are positioned on either end of the crankshaft to reduce vibration and to minimize the size of the engine cases. The balancer is designed to reduce vibration while still allowing that classic V-twin pulse feel. 3-axis crankcase layout means the crankshaft, main axle and drive shaft are specially arranged to minimize the size of the engine cases and centralize mass. The dry sump oil lubrication system has been optimized to ensure maximum lubrication and cooling. Special oil nozzles direct oil at the bottom of the pistons to cool and lubricate them. Dry sump system means a more compact engine design since the oil tank is not part of the engine, which lowers the centre of gravity for great handling and a light feel. Special "dual chamber" crankcase design. The front section is for the crank assembly while the rear is for the transmission. Two, 3-rotor high capacity oil pumps optimizes oil flow in each of the two main sections of the engine. Huge 100mm bore ceramic composite-plated cylinders provide uniform heat dissipation, reduce weight, reduce friction and increase cylinder service life. Large-diameter pistons are both durable and lightweight. Yamaha's exclusive "controlled forged construction" keeps the pistons light for faster response and to accommodate higher rpms with reduced vibration and less reciprocating mass. The pistons feature an Alumite coating to reduce friction. Cooling fin thickness and depth is optimized for maximum heat dissipation, thereby eliminating the need for liquid cooling, while maintaining that traditional, stylish air-cooled engine appearance. Each cooling fin is specially polished to create shining highlights that change with the angle of the light. 43mm, twin-bore, downdraft throttle body fuel injection (FI) with throttle position sensor (TPS) ensures great throttle response and maximum power throughout the rev range. This system is a "closed loop" system, since it utilizes an oxygen sensor in the exhaust to monitor the concentration of oxygen and adjust the FI system if necessary. The benefits of fuel injection include chokeless operation, increased fuel economy, instant throttle response and reduced emissions. The 12-hole, 2-directional Mikuni fuel injectors produce a wide spray pattern for complete cylinder filling. This special spray pattern combined with the dual spark plug heads ensures complete combustion for maximum power. An Idle Speed Control (ISC) has been adopted to ensure stable idling performance. High capacity electronic fuel pump is located in the sub fuel tank under the seat. State-of-the-art Electronic Control Unit (ECU) ensures precisely metered fuel delivery and optimal ignition spark control using 3D mapping for each cylinder. 3.5 litre dual inlet air filter box features one inlet at the front and one at the rear of the airbox for maximum breathing efficiency. This design not only maximizes air flow but also reduces weight and allows for a more open appearance at the steering head area. A viscous paper type air filter is used. Air Induction System (AIS) injects fresh oxygen at the exhaust port to ensure complete combustion thereby reducing harmful exhaust emissions (HC & CO) while a special air cut valve reduces backfiring when decelerating or coasting off throttle. High-performance, 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust system features large size header pipes for maximum flow. Dual 3-way honeycomb matrix catalyizers reduce harmful exhaust emissions. The stylish dual muffler helps to boost torque and horsepower while producing a throaty, V-twin growl. Heat shields protect the rider and passenger from hot components. The exhaust system also features a lightweight titanium EXUP exhaust power valve most commonly found on high performance sport bikes. The EXUP system not only provides crisp throttle response and eliminates 'flat spots" but also improves acceleration, reduces fuel consumption and harmful emissions too. Smooth-shifting, 5-speed transmission features optimized gear ratios for both strong low rpm acceleration and relaxed highway cruising. 5th gear is an overdrive gear for reduced engine rpms at highway speeds for maximum riding comfort. Heavy duty 10 plate clutch is designed compliment engine power characteristics. This clutch is operated by a hydraulic master cylinder instead of a cable. The hydraulic clutch design is low maintenance, self adjusting and stylish too. Low-maintenance belt drive system not only significantly reduces maintenance but is also clean and quiet. A belt drive system uses less power than a shaft drive and reduces unsprung weight for great rear suspension performance. The belt is embedded with carbon fibre cords for incredible strength and durability Easy access, spin-on type oil filter means fast, easy oil changes.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

High tech, cast aluminium double-cradle frame reduces weight, while balancing strength and rigidity. The engine is rigidly mounted in the frame for added rigidity. The critical head pipe area features box type construction for additional strength. The frame not only provides excellent handling characteristics but also compliments the beautiful flowing lines of the entire machine. The open area behind and below the steering head helps to enhance that "chopper inspired" styling image. The main front wire harness is hidden in the head pipe for a clean appearance. Important Note: Raked out front fork with lots of trail generally provides good straight line stability but often results in heavy steering. The engineers at Yamaha will not sacrifice handling for styling, so they have developed a 6 degree yoke offset angle combined with a 34 degree steering head for a total fork angle of 40 degrees. The Raider provides light "athletic handling and easy steering" not commonly found on a custom styled bike. This bike was designed to be ridden !! Key numbers: 6 degree yoke offset angle; 34 degree caster angle; 102mm of trail. Lightweight C.F. die cast aluminium swingarm offers superb rigidity and ensures excellent stability and handling. The C.F. die casting process allows for beautiful shapes that are both strong and light. This swingarm is a fashion statement in aluminium and compliments the rest of the Raider eye catching styling. Rigid 46mm Kayaba front fork offers 130mm (5.1") of wheel travel for exceptionally stable handling and great ride comfort. The inner fork tubes are protected by stylish chrome chip guards. Beefy, cast aluminium, top triple clamp and computer designed lower triple clamp with a 6 degree yoke angle provides excellent handling qualities while maintaining that custom chopper inspired styling. Link rear suspension features a spring preload adjustable single rear shock delivering outstanding ride comfort and precise handling. The Kayaba shock is horizontally positioned under the engine lowering the centre of gravity for great handling. The shock is hidden to provide that classic "hardtail" look. Rear wheel travel is 90mm (3.5"). Powerful dual 298mm floating front discs are squeezed by ultra rigid, 4-piston, monoblock calipers to provide sport-bike spec stopping power with great lever feel and feedback. Beautiful custom looking 5-spoke cast aluminium 21" front wheel provides a special styling highlight. The width is 3.50 inches wide and is fitted with a 120/70 profile tire. The rear wheel is also a custom inspired 5-spoke 18 inch cast aluminium mag design that is 7.5 inches wide. This rear wheel carries the widest rear tire ever installed on a Yamaha motorcycle it is a 210 / 40 tire. Both wheels are fitted with tubeless tires. Large 310mm rear disc is squeezed by a single piston caliper mounted below the swingarm for a lower center of gravity and that customized "hidden look". Two-piece seat design features a deep notch in the rider seat to give that chopper inspired riding position more sitting in than sitting on. The rear portion of the rider's seat also doubles as a backrest / back support for the rider. 60/55w headlight with unique custom inspired styling can be adjusted up and down and left or right . Steel fenders front and rear can be easily customized or painted to suit personal preferences. Custom styled one piece rear fender mounts. Flangeless teardrop style main fuel tank offers 12 litres of capacity. There are no welds visible, providing that clean, custom look. Total fuel capacity is 15.9 litres thanks to a 3.9 litre sub tank located low in the frame below the seat. A high pressure electric fuel pump with quick connect fittings provides fuel to the EFI system. Large 1.25" diameter handlebars. All electrical wires are hidden inside the handle bars for that clean custom look. Selected meter functions can be controlled by buttons on the back of RHS switch gear. Classic fuel tank mounted instrument panel. This comprehensive instrumentation includes an analogue speedo, and fuel gauge with low fuel warning light, plus a digital odometer, dual tripmeters, fuel reserve trip counter and clock. Background illumination can be adjusted to suit personal preferences. Reset buttons are located on the instrument panel while the select switch is located on the left hand switch gear so you can tab through the various functions without removing your hands from the handlebars. Extra wide, brake and clutch levers provide that quality feel and look. Brilliant LED rear tail light not only uses less power but is also more durable than a conventional bulb design.
